Following in the footsteps of the successful unveiling of the 2020 Corvette Stingray Coupe back in July, Chevrolet unveiled the 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible earlier this month in Cape Canaveral, Florida. It’s the first time in Corvette history that that iconic nameplate features both a mid-engine layout and a hardtop convertible design.

Chevrolet has not yet announced an official release date for the 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible, but production is slated to begin in late first-quarter 2020. Pricing for the 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible starts at $67,495 MSRP.

Retractable Hardtop for the 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible

The 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible maintains the structural integrity and sleek and aerodynamic design of the Stingray Coupe, while offering an enjoyable top-down driving experience with its retractable hardtop. Utilizing six electric motors, the hardtop can be retracted in only 16 seconds while driving at speeds up to 30 mph. Buyers of the Stingray Convertible have a choice of either the standard body-colored roof or the available Carbon Flash Metallic roof.

Chevrolet’s engineers ingeniously designed the hardtop so that it could seamlessly stow into the body. It also doesn’t sacrifice the trunk space of the Stingray Coupe, with the ability to fit two sets of golf clubs. Additional storage capabilities come courtesy of the front storage compartment, which was created as a result of moving the engine from under the hood to center of the car, right behind the seats.

2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible Engine Specs

The 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible delivers excellent performance with its 6.2L Small Block V-8 LT2 engine. Paired with a smooth and efficient 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, the engine churns out 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The engine can be viewed through a divider glass window behind the seats of the Corvette Stingray.
