Featuring three six-phase electric motors, this prototype generates over 1,300 horsepower and revs up to 15,000 rpm. It’s powered by a 78-kWh liquid-cooled battery, demonstrating Chevrolet’s commitment to testing advanced electric vehicle (EV) technology on the track. 

This electric racer is built on NASCAR’s Next Gen chassis, integrating programmable all-wheel drive and high-performance Goodyear Racing Eagle tires. Engineers also borrowed key styling cues from the Chevy Blazer EV SS, ensuring the prototype reflects both speed and innovation.

Blazer EV.R: Debuting at Daytona 

Racing fans will get their first up-close look at the Blazer EV.R NASCAR prototype during the Daytona 500 2025 weekend. NASCAR worked closely with Chevrolet and other manufacturers to develop this prototype, ensuring it meets the sport’s performance standards. 

Justin Allgaier, a Team Chevy driver and the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion, had the opportunity to test the Blazer EV.R. He noted that adjusting to the EV platform required a shift in strategy, particularly with regenerative braking and speed management. 

Beyond the Blazer EV.R, Chevrolet will have a strong presence throughout the Daytona race weekend. The high-powered Chevy Blazer EV SS will serve as the official pace car for the Daytona 500. Additionally, a Corvette Stingray will lead the Xfinity Series United Rentals 300, while the Chevrolet Silverado RST will set the pace for the Craftsman Truck Series Fresh From Florida 250.
