The 2023 Chevy Suburban Powertrain Philosophy: There’s No Replacement for Displacement
First up is the standard 355-hp V-8. This engine is no slouch and provides plenty of power for everyday driving. But if you’re looking for something with a little more oomph, Chevy has you covered.
There’s an optional 277-hp inline-six turbodiesel, which offers impressive fuel economy and plenty of torque for towing. And for those who want even more power, there’s a 420-hp gas V-8 available. This engine is a real powerhouse and will get you up to speed quickly.
All three engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that’s incredibly responsive. It’s almost telepathic in how quickly it shifts and adapts to your driving style. And if you prefer four-wheel-drive, you’ll be happy to know that all three engines can be equipped with it.
There is one exception, however. The off-road-focused Z71 trim is only available with four-wheel-drive. But if you’re planning on taking your Suburban off the beaten path, this is the trim to get.
